BOO Your Neighbors for Fun!
by Wendy Navarro, Saige Nicole's baby and toddler boutique
Having lived in the suburbs of Boston as a little girl, over-the-top Halloweens were a BIG part of our neighborhood’s traditions. Candy-filled cauldrons dripped of eerie cob webs and life-like spiders daring us to reach our hand in if we wanted our candy reward. Roaring lion head door knockers warned us of impending danger should we enter the “haunted house” and pumpkin carving parties were a staple event. Our neighborhood would even go so far as to rope-up sheeted ghosts from house to house to “fly” through the night on All-Hallows-Eve. It was a great place to be a kid.
It wasn’t until I was an adult, that boo’ing was introduced and as soon as I discovered it I was hooked; quickly adding this new Halloween tradition into our family’s. With my girlfriend, Tina and her children, we began BOO’ing our neighbors and friends. Excitedly, we’d walk through the neighborhood with our children a day or two after just to see how quickly the BOO’ing trend caught on. To all our pleasure, the trend caught on and spread. It was so hard for the children to keep our secret but they loved seeing our neighborhood come to life and the festive spirit ’ing brought to it. We continue our BOO’ing tradition each year now and are excited to share it with you and your family.
